Description

Your entry into the professional ranks of diving and the first step toward a career underwater. The Divemaster course builds real leadership ability, teaching you to manage dive activities, watch over safety and guide certified divers with confidence. You’ll deepen your understanding of dive physics, physiology and planning, refine your own skills to a demonstration-quality level, and learn to supervise divers in a variety of conditions. Along the way you’ll gain hands-on experience assisting instructors and organizing dives, developing the judgment that separates a good diver from a true dive leader. It opens doors to work in the dive industry around the world and sets the foundation for instructor-level training.

The SDI Divemaster course offers divers the chance to ascend to the professional ranks of diving, providing them with comprehensive skills in dive leadership, safety management, and underwater guidance, thereby opening doors to a rewarding career in the dive industry.

Dives included: a minimum of 10 open water training dives (each at least 20 minutes), during which candidates guide a minimum of 4 dives across varied sites and conditions.

Prerequisites

Minimum age 18 years
SDI Advanced Adventure Diver (or equivalent), including the Deep, Night/Limited Visibility, and Underwater Navigation specialties
SDI Rescue Diver certification (or equivalent)
Current CPR/First Aid (First Response Adult & Child) and Oxygen Administration Provider certification, where local law permits
A minimum of 40 logged dives
Complete a medical statement — physician approval where relevant

Course Requirements & Standards (SDI)

First professional-level SDI rating
Requires Advanced Adventure Diver (with Deep, Night/Limited Visibility, and Navigation specialties), Rescue Diver, 40 logged dives, and CPR/First Aid/Oxygen provider training
Includes practical application and leadership assessment
Enables working in the dive industry under standards
