Description
The Divemaster program adapted for younger candidates who meet the age requirements, introducing dive leadership and supervision skills appropriate to their experience level. It gives motivated young divers an early start on the path toward a professional diving future, building responsibility, confidence and a deeper understanding of how dives are planned and led. Under the guidance of a dive professional, junior candidates develop leadership qualities and refine their diving skills in a supportive, age-appropriate way. As they grow and gain experience, the abilities they develop here carry directly forward into the full Divemaster rating and beyond.
Dives included: no set number of training dives; candidates give a minimum of 5 dive briefs/debriefs and must have at least 30 logged dives as a prerequisite.
Prerequisites
- Ages 15 to 17; minimum age 15 with parental consent
- SDI Advanced Adventure Diver (or equivalent) with verifiable experience in the deep, navigation, night, and limited-visibility specialties
- SDI Rescue Diver certification (or equivalent)
- Current First Response Adult & Child Emergency Care Provider and Oxygen Administration Provider certification, where local law permits
- A minimum of 30 logged dives
- Note: Junior Divemaster is not a professional rating and juniors may not supervise diving activities or act as a certified assistant

- Skills and experience carry forward to full Divemaster at qualifying age
After This Course
Upon reaching the qualifying age and experience, upgrade to the full SDI Divemaster rating and continue professional development.
